Because of the city’s unique status as "the only authentically preserved large medieval city in Germany", the Historic City Regensburg with Stadtamhof was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006. And deservedly so! The authentic Historic City ensemble is unique, featuring a remarkably high number of historical buildings within a relatively small area. The architecture spans centuries, in fact, millennia.

Regensburg is situated on the nothernmost part of Danube River in Bavaria, in southeast Germany. The closest international hub is Munich International Airport (110 km), which can easily be reached by car or train. Neuschwanstein Castle, the Hall of Liberation in Kehlheim, Weltenburg Monastery and many other sights can easily be visited comfortably from Regensburg.
